Like the good Pap and Gigi we try to be, we schlepped our way across town early this morning, to watch our grandson play soccer. Unfortunately, sprinkles with the accompanying thunder, stopped the game. Here in Florida, the Lightning Capital of the Universe, we take our lightning very seriously. It was all good, though, because we got to see our grandkids.
There are parts of Orlando that harken back to the old days - as in the 1950's and 60's. Quaint neighborhoods boast unique homes - not the cookie cutter ones from subdivisions of the 1970's and 80's. And it seems like you're going back in time, too. On this field behind an elementary school, dogs were running loose. They were all friendly and happy and stopped to check everything out. Nobody was barking or being territorial they way dogs on leashes can be. I loved it.
Back home I noticed a suspicious pile of cat fur near the back door. Although no one looked guilty, I suspect there was a difference of opinion. I didn't find any blood - just fur - but it was enough to determine it was a serious DOO. Who knows...
What they think they look like |
How they really look |
It occurred to me Miss Boo! has acquired more nicknames than any cat in the house. She is known as "Boo! Bear," "Booby Doo," "Baby Cat," Booby Baby," and of course, "BOO!!!!!" She doesn't come to any of them.

A surefire way to get her out of hiding is to use the icemaker. Both she and Dash come running whenever they hear those ice cubes drop. I oblige, much to Andy's dismay, by lobbing ice cubes across the floor. The problem is, and why he hates it, they get tired of the cubes which melt into a puddle on the floor. Those puddles always seem to be in the path of wherever he is walking. Never, in the history of ice, have so many unsuspecting cubes been cursed to hell and back.
Well, it's a gray, rainy, lazy day here and my brain is muzzy. In case you are unfamiliar with that word, it means mushy and fuzzy. Between the high pollen count, which means I must carry an inhaler around with me for the first time in my life! - and the high humidity - it's just not a beautiful day in the neighborhood. I think I'll take a nap....
