Our Rooney has gone from sleeping in her kennel at night to wanting our bed for herself. I could have predicted this would happen. Once you give a Bully an inch, they will take the whole yardstick. I blame Andy. He let her sleep in the bed when I was in the front room battling cats. Now we have to move.
It's funny how smart animals are in getting humans to do their bidding. I watched a video on You Tube in which a parrot was arguing with his human. He wasn't just being sassy - he was swearing a blue streak and getting very upset. I think his human wanted him to do something the parrot did not want to do, so he stood his ground and let him know what for. Watching him made me very happy the kids in this house can't talk.
Well, Fancy can. And Dash is learning. Fancy chatters away at me all day long. I have learned how to translate his vocalizations, too. Dash is so smart he figured out which cat to imitate. He has now joined Fancy in telling Mom what to do.
Just watch me, kid. I'll show you how to get her to do anything you want.
As I was typing, I could feel someone staring at me. I looked up to see this. |
Dash is the complete opposite, and from what I've seen, so are his brothers. Dash will let me hold him like a baby for as long as I can sit still holding him like a baby. In my case, that isn't very long, because I cannot sit still for any length of time. But Lily has held him that way for the entire duration of a Scooby Doo movie.
It's quiet here today. The kids didn't spend the night so it was just us and our menagerie. With all the craziness going on in the world, it would be so easy to fall down the rabbit hole. But, in the midst of the sadness of another school shooting, the insanity of politics and the lies people who claim to be Christians tell - in my little world, all is well. I give credit to the creatures who keep me grounded. Who love unconditionally and never hold on to anger or hatred. Well, Eli stays mad for awhile, but other than him, the rest are pretty Zen. Peace and love in your world. If you need more - adopt a pet.
