Day Two Hundred Thirty Three

Fancy's Bad Mood

Fancy has been out of sorts this morning. His foot is better but he had other issues. He took his bad attitude outside with him to the "playground." I heard the grumbling, then the rr-rowls. I usually let them sort out their issues without my intervention but this seemed serious. He was mad at the world. As soon as I opened the door, everybody ran inside, Fancy included.

I'm in a bad mood - got it?

Now, the turmoil was inside. Poor Chance was cowering under my chair. Eli ran into the dining room. Boo! and Dash gave him lots of space. Finn wisely stayed outside. I was able to coax Finn in, then I encouraged Fancy to go back out - alone. He was fine with that. Sometimes a guy just needs some alone time. I get that.

Boo! is becoming more of a daredevil - as if that was possible. She entered into a game of "tag" with Eli across the kitchen ledge. They were exchanging head-bops and hisses. She takes no prisoners and can definitely hold her own. She weighs about a pound while the Rags and Fancy weigh at least fifteen each.

Anyway, she kept looking down at the desk below as a possible landing spot instead of using the fridge, which is a much safer route. I had my back turned but I think she settled on the more dangerous way. When I looked up, she was no longer on the ledge and Eli was staring down like, "Well, I could do that if I wanted."

We are getting our fireplace replaced because the flue pipe is rusted out. This time we're adding doors. After seeing her try to climb through the space between two kitchen cabinets, I can imagine her attempting  to exit the house through the chimney. Yesterday I caught her climbing the pool screen, as in, almost to the top. I could see her getting to the top then falling into the pool, so I yelled and she jumped down onto a lawn chair. Gee whiz. She's a mess.

Speaking of outside, Andy is removing the old screen and needs my help. This ought to be good...
