The house is quiet. Too quiet. Jack and Rooney are napping after breakfast, and the kitties are outside, but there should be some sounds. I need to investigate.
It's all good. The cats are exploring the pool deck and Boo! is extremely happy. I love to watch an Aby "skip." Dash just ran up to her and she jumped straight up in the air like a puppet on a string. And Dash finally has someone with whom he can play tag. I love watching them take turns chasing each other, then using some object as "base" - swing, cat tree, table, etc.
Boo! has discovered Roxy and, like her brother, can't seem to understand why this "cat" has long ears and has to stay inside a cage. I may open the door and see what happens...
Hey cat! Why are you in there? Are you in time out? |
Last night, Boo! seemed chilly. I scooped her up and wrapped her in my fuzzy bed jacket. (For those of you unfamiliar with a "bed jacket" they are short versions of robes used primarily by old ladies who get cold easily but like to sit up in bed to read. Mother had a dozen of them. My kids think they're hysterical. Hey, don't knock it until you've tried it.)
Anyway, I keep one handy for those (rare) moments when I am slightly cooler than boiling hot. I wrapped Boo! in it and she fell sound asleep. At some point I had to get up so I handed my tiny bundle to Andy. She stayed asleep for a long time, snuggled in her cocoon. He loved every minute of it. At one point he wondered if we could trade the Ragdolls for Abys! Not in a million years, but they do say guys are partial to Abys.
Rooney was not pleased, however. She didn't like sharing her Dad's petting hand with a cat. At some point she got fed up and left the couch to sulk in the corner. The living room couch is now forbidden territory. Nobody will go into the living room anymore. The ssscat is not only keeping them away from the tree, they don't use the couch or cat tree or even look out the window. Oh well.
