After careful research and deliberation, we finally settled on Copper's new home.
Ta Da!! I present the Exo Terra Reptile Terrarium.
It is 36x18x18 inches and has a front entry!! We found it at Pet Bazaar in Castleberry; a really cool place that is all about reptiles and fish. Oh, and it was cheaper there than on Amazon! Be forewarned if you go there, however - there are lots of snakes in every conceivable size - and the staff does not suffer fools gladly. Just sayin...
Copper has a lot more room; a log and a cave for basking; a hammock (where she happily spent the night) and a lot more room to roam. For me, it has front opening doors, which means no more tussling with hot lights when I want to feed or play with her. It's obvious she loves it because she has checked out every square inch. There was a foam backboard which we decided not to use and now I can't remember why.....
Oh, yes! It was because the suction cups on the hammock needed two glass walls. Anyway, we're all happy. Well, let me qualify that - Andy might be happier if it hadn't cost a small fortune. But, I did opt for the slightly shorter, less costly version. I was afraid I couldn't keep the 24 inch tall size warm enough. And, she has room to grow. If she outgrows this one I'm just gonna let her run loose in the house. I am reasonably certain no one will mess with a two foot lizard covered in spikes.
Speaking of those inclined to do mischief - Boo! was fascinated with the new arrival. But then, she is drawn to
Then, Boo! couldn't believe there was yet another glass box with cool stuff to harass. When she put herself in peril by trying to climb behind the aquarium, I called timeout and got the Ssscat can. Now, if you recall, the poor can has seen better days. After being knocked off a shelf and cracked, the top is sort of cattywampus. This has affected the sensor, so once it starts spritzing, it doesn't know when to stop. It was ssssting madly, which set everyone's nerves on edge. Andy called timeout on that one.
I was relieved to find everything in place when I woke up. I wasn't 100 percent certain, but I hoped Boo! couldn't knock this aquarium to the floor. I think she's capable of just about anything, but Andy assured me it was way too heavy for her to move. He was correct. Oh, and she has developed a new way to get warm...
This crazy little monkey/cat just crawls into my shirt and stays there until she gets nice and toasty. Then she flies away, without so much as a thank you, Mom; to go back outside until she gets cold again. Then it's rinse and repeat. As you can see, I don't mind one bit.
