Day One Hundred Eleven

Love is Kind

I write about the animals in my life; that's the purpose of my blog. I also frequently mention my grandchildren. Lately, I've been writing about my son because of the events in his life. Then it occurred to me, I haven't said much about my daughter lately. Just thinking about her makes me smile.

Our daughter is an amazing person. She is, without a doubt, a beautiful person. But, it is her inner beauty that people recognize. Bijou (her chosen name) is smart - with a degree in Alternative Therapies. She is independent - with her own career. Our daughter is talented and funny, and is also incredibly kind. I realized just how much when she rescued a dog nobody else wanted.

When Bijou was living here, she had a Jack Russell/Chihuahua mix named, Seven. Sevi was completely smitten with our daughter. He loved her more than life itself. When his little heart gave out, it was very hard on Bijou. She waited awhile before even thinking about bringing another pet into her life. When she was ready, she went looking where most people don't. A last resort shelter.

Sevi and his buddy, Jack

Bijou found a dog there who had been living on the streets. Lady London had a litter of puppies when she was rescued. The puppies all found homes, but nobody wanted Lady. Well, Bijou did. It was love at first sight for both of them. Lady - or Bug or Zuzu - is a mixed breed with some Basenji, Pit Bull and who knows what else thrown in. She is a formidable dog who really doesn't like cats but loves just about everything else. Her first love, however, is Bijou. Lady lives a fabulous life now and shows her gratitude every day.

When I think about the millions of dogs and cats in shelters, just waiting for someone to give them a good home, it breaks my heart. But there is one dog, who is living like royalty, all because a kind heart gave her a chance.
