Day One Hundred

Nine Ring Circus

I hit the One Hundred Days' mark with this blog! I am astonished I stayed with a project for that long! My ultimate goal is a year so, fingers crossed.

Conversations:

Eli and Me -
Eli: I would like to talk to you about something.
Me: Okay, sure. But first, would you please get off my head. I can't breathe.
Eli: Oh, sorry. Here's the thing. Could you get rid of the other cats? I was here first, and I want you all to myself. And you promised me you would never get another cat. Do you remember that? Well, do you?
Me: No

Fancy and Me -
Fancy: (Climbing onto my lap, surveying the perimeter first.) Mum, can we talk?
Me: Sure, buddy, what's going on?
Fancy: I'm just making sure we're good. It gets crazy here sometimes.
Me: Bud, you and I are always going to be okay. I love you and you try so hard to be a good boy. Um, could you unclench your claws please?
Fancy: Oh! Did I scratch you? Sorry. I'm so nervous. I just don't ever want to leave.
Me: Not gonna happen. Relax. Uh, I think I need a bandaid...

At this point, Dash appears out of nowhere, swats Fancy on the head and chases him off my lap.

Dash and Me -
Me: Dash! Why did you chase Fancy away? We were talking!
Dash: I'm the baby and I don't want you giving anybody attention but me.
Me: Well, I love everybody and you guys have to take turns.
Dash: No! I'm special. I want you to hold me now. See, I'm sleeping. (Closes both eyes, but opens one to see if I'm paying attention.)
Me: heavy sigh...

Jack and Me -
Jack: Harumph! It has come to my attention that yet another animal is here and appears to be staying.
Me: Uh, yeah. You cracked that code did you, Miss Marple. Is there a problem?
Jack: Yes, there is. I have learned to live with all of the other creatures you brought here. There are things in cages - and those human children who come around. It is very hard for me to keep order. And now you bring in this new creature - what is it? He's everywhere! And the noises he makes! I'm at my wit's end I tell you. There he goes! Did you see that?
Me: Jack, he's a kitten. And nobody expects you to keep order. I know you think it's your job, but it isn't. You watch the front door, and hold that couch down. I'll worry about the rest.
Jack: It's too much, I say, it's just too much... (Walks off grumbling to himself.)

Rooney and Dad -
Rooney: I love you more than anything on Earth! Why do you leave me?
Dad: Hey, Boogaloo, you're such a good girl. I love you, too.
Rooney: Mommy is mean. She makes me listen to her. I just want to be with you all the time.
Dad: I know. But I have to go to work. I'll be back. I promise. You be a good girl.
Rooney: I'm gonna sit here in front of the window, all day, and wait for you.

Finn and Chance rarely have conversations with me. They like ear scritches and pats, but they sit and stare at me a lot. Maybe they think my tiny brain can only hold so much. They may be right.

Writing about the creatures who have blessed my life has been interesting and eye opening. I hope I have provided a few laughs, a few tears and maybe a few insights. There are very few dull moments in this household.
