Day One Hundred Forty Three

Life is Grand, Carbs Are Not

I may have used this title before, but I can't remember and I'm too lazy to go through every entry! I'm counting on you not remembering either. As you may have guessed, the Grands are here. Everybody's happy. Jack and Rooney get pancakes and everything that falls on the floor. The cats are entertained. Dash gets lots of cuddles and attention from his favorite girl. Gigi is happy because she and the munchkins stayed up late watching a movie and eating Lucky Charms and Fruit Loops in bed. Well, not Gigi, cause she's on a low carb diet.

The only one who had a rough night is Pap. Poor Pap. Because we all can't fit in the big bed, he sleeps in the guest room aka Dash's room. I guess the cats gave him quite a work over. Their favorite middle of the night game is "tag" - with "base" being the person in the bed. I've experienced it myself. The worst thing you can do is move your legs because they will attack them thinking there's a mole or something under the covers. Again - Poor Pap.

Blueberry pancakes (for L, Jack and Rooney) and bagel pizza for E, thanks to Pap who is the best cook in the house. Once again, Gigi is on a low-carb diet. She is sad.

Speaking of breakfast, Gigi just had to play detective. I asked E what happened to his plate, which had held his bagel pizza. He didn't know. I asked Pap if he had taken it. He hadn't. Finally found the empty plate, under the couch. It didn't take advanced deductive abilities to crack the case. Jack and Rooney were circling the room, licking their lips. Case closed.

Yesterday, Dash sat on L's lap for hours. He had a claw that was shedding but stuck, so she performed a little manicure as he sat patiently watching her fix his nail. Then he fell asleep on her lap. It's funny to watch him this way since he spends most of everyday looking for stuff to get into, take apart, knock over, attack, etc. I shouldn't be surprised though, because she has a magic way with animals.

I remember how Poco used to get soft eyes and just breathe her in when we took L to the barn when she was a baby. I have never seen her shy away from any creature. Even Jack, this morning, jumped on the couch next to her and took a big whiff of her hair before he saw me watching him. Then he straightened up like he was caught in a weak moment. That's the effect she has on everyone - human and animal. Like my cousin said, it's a gift.
