The old fireplace was removed yesterday and a new one was installed. The process left gaping holes in the wall surrounding the fireplace. Just the kind of holes Boo! and Dash would love to explore. Expecting otherwise would be like thinking those kids in The Chronicles of Narnia won't go into the closet. You know it's gonna happen.
To ease my worried mind, we had the space covered in plastic. I did not want to have to call Fire and Rescue to have any of the cats pulled from the flue. Well, as anticipated, the very first thing little Boo! did, when she was set free from the front bedroom, was make a beeline for the fireplace and proceed to shred the plastic. She wanted to go into the cool "cave" but somebody put stupid plastic in her way. I caught her just in the knick of time and brought out my new Ssscat canister.
Well, it's a new refill on the old sensor, which she drop-kicked to the floor from the mantel. It is slightly askew seeing as how several of the grippers were broken off. Crooked or not it still "SSSSHHHHTTTTSSS" and scares everyone. I can never remember it's there and will have a heart attack one of these days because of it.
Boo! and Dash had to spend the night in the front bedroom. There was no way in hell she was going to forget there is a huge hole in the wall. She was biding her time until we went to bed. As I'm typing she is trying to get at it from another angle. Eli is watching her to see if she has any success.
Eli: What are you doing now? Boo!: I think I can get to the hole from here. |
Eli: I don't know why I listened to you... This is just a stupid shelf. |
Now, I wanted them to go outside. It is a beautiful day. They want no parts of outside. On rainy days they beg to go out. On cold days they push past me to get outside. On a beautiful day, just because I want them to go outside, forget about it. They would rather stay inside and see just why I want them out. Those stinkers know something is up. They love me but do not trust me.
What's up is that the drywall repair guys are on the way. That means either all six cats have to go into the front bedroom or they all have to stay outside. Otherwise, Boo! would be right in the middle of what they're doing; trying to "help." This is absolutely hilarious. I'm going to have to lock them out!
Oh, I'm positive there will be a Part Three to this saga...
